CHARACTER
» Name: Haruhi Fujioka
» Fandom: Ouran High School Host Club
» Reference: http://ouran.wikia.com/wiki/Haruhi_Fujioka
» Canon Point: Chapter 80, after she confesses to Tamaki
» Gender: Female
» Age: 16, aged up physicaly to 18 in Amat
» Orientation: I feel that Haruhi's orientation is somewhere between straight and asexual due to the fact that, while she has been shown to be comfortable in female company, she shows no indication of romantic feelings to anyone in particular until just before her canon point when she confesses to fellow Host, Tamaki Suoh. While I feel it is possible for her to form an even closer bond with someone other than Tamaki, given her obvious feelings for him, it can be safely determined she is not attracted to girls. For most of the series she does not look incredibly hard at either gender in a romantic sense as she is busy carrying on with other matters such as Host Club duties and her studies. Being confronted with love confessions from men in middle school did not phase her in the slightest and she did not cave to any of their attentions.
The only characters to ever approach her and cause her to entertain romantic feelings would be Hikaru and Tamaki, as she shares an extremely close relationship with the both of them. She has never seriously been approached by a woman. While Benio of the Zuka Club deserves a notable mention, it should be noted Haruhi has given Benio the brush off on numerous occasions and so I feel that based on this she would probably lean more towards men, again based on the evidence provided by the canon material. Yes, she is an open minded person but, no, I have yet to see her confessing her love to any female characters despite all of the attention she garners from the fairer sex as a Host. Though for much of her canon it really can be surmised that she has no attractions what so ever to either sex this has obviously changed by her canon point.
» Personality: Independent, caring, determined, calm, relaxing, kind, open. These are all words that can describe Haruhi Fujioka. At a young age Haruhi had to learn the harshness of reality when her mother passed away. Her father, Ranka, began work as a hostess at a bar at night. He cross dressed as he felt he could not handle being flirted with by other women – anyone who was not his beloved wife. This is where Haruhi picks up her androgynous nature. She does not feel that gender is a determining factor for character or how a person should be seen in general because of how she was raised to be accepting of her father whom dotes on her as much as he can.
When we first meet Haruhi her hair is sloppily cut short as that morning she'd gotten gum stuck in it and so she cut it all off to save the hassle of wasting time in her morning to fish the wad out. This hair style makes her look masculine to a degree and impossible to tell that she is in fact a female. Tamaki and the twins in particular go out of their way to make her as feminine as possible as the three of them feel that is who she should be. Haruhi often times will dissuade them as – again – she does not feel that her gender should be what people see in her.
Haruhi is the type of girl who is easy to get under people's skin. She is easily able to tell the twins apart when no one for years was able to, causing them to put a distance between people and themselves. Haruhi is able to tell them apart due to their individual mannerisms and their voices. She saw the distinctness in both boys when everyone else grouped them as “the twins” versus “Hikaru and Kaoru”.
The same thing can be said in regards to Tamaki's family. She sees Tamaki as who he is, not who his grandmother and father want him to be – the head of the Suoh family, an orderly and obedient boy who follows their rules. His grandmother viewed the Host Club as frivolous and a waste of time when really it helped him flourish into a strong person – namely due to Haruhi's stubborn influence. Haruhi angrily confronts all three of them and accuses his father and grandmother in particular of being wrong in their justification of keeping Tamaki on such a short leash, that he is capable of becoming a strong person without their influence and that they as a family should work together and communicate more effectively versus being cold and unfeeling all the time. There is also discussion in regards to his mother whom is living over seas as she is too ill. Haruhi feels very strongly about this arrangement as she would give anything to see her mother again if given the chance.
In regards to how others see her and how she is with the Host Club and it's patrons, Tamaki himself dubs her as a natural type. Each of the boys has a type and she is seen in his eyes as a natural. She is easy going and friendly when given the room to flourish, thus creating quite an avid fan base among their female patrons. She speaks of her “commoner” upbringing with pride, while privately frustrated with the seeming lack of appreciation for the lower class community by the rich upper class students. Tamaki himself makes a hobby of collecting commoner things and even drags Kyouya and the others with him to go to one of the sales that Haruhi is planning on going to in one episode of the anime.
While Tamaki's assessment of her abilities as a host are correct, Haruhi is known to occasionally lose that charismatic persona when she becomes frustrated or decides to give an opinion of a situation. She bluntly tells the twins their differences and assumes that her opinion of those differences should not matter to them, causing a fight which was really orchestrated so that they might be able to come visit her at her home, much to her horror and disbelief. While she is easily able to gauge people's personalities and mannerisms and reactions she does not show emotions appropriate for even a bad situation. When at the beach with some girls from school Haruhi swoops in to save the day not once giving thought to if this this is the appropriate action or if she should get help. Kyouya himself has chided her for her brashness during the incident by cornering her in her room in order to make a point, though she states that there would be no merit in his actions. This shows again her ability to accurately see people for who they are.
Often times, Haruhi is annoyed with the student's amazement at her practical way of living. At one point when she brings instant coffee to the club during the beginnings of her time there, Tamaki and the others show great surprise when she explains how inexpensive and useful the coffee is. This begins Tamaki's obsessive hobby of collecting “commoner” things. She also feels a certain amount of apathy towards the general going ons of the more richer students. She does not feel the need for all of the extravagance that Tamaki often plans when they have various meetings with the girls. Though Kyouya is rather good as a book keeper and is able to make up the costs easily enough by selling merchandise of the hosts, much to Haruhi's annoyance. Often times she will be left saying “Stupid rich bastards,” or “Stupid rich kids,” in reference to her feelings of the rich.
That stubborn prideful streak of hers can get her into trouble on occasion such as the beach visit the group makes with some girls. Haruhi herself almost drowns when she is shoved for trying to defend the girls from pursuers. Tamaki later scolds her for this and she gives him the cold shoulder as a result for most of the evening.
This attitude of hers, namely her sarcasm and wit, has often been said to mirror her mother's own personality. While Haruhi does not remember enough about her mother, given her young age when she passed away, she often attributes her mother as her motivation for striving to become a great lawyer when she has completed her schooling at Ouran Academy.
It is revealed that Haruhi has Astraphobia or Astrapophobia, a fear of thunderstorms, which often results in her finding enclosed spaces to hide when it is over. Tamaki finds her in such a state during their trip and comforts her. He is the only one in the manga to be aware of this besides her father. Hikaru is made aware of it during the anime adaptation when the two of them go on a date.
On, the subject of dates, let it be noted that Haruhi is quite oblivious to male attentions despite being a very attractive girl. Her humble nature prevents her from taking such things to heart. According to Kyouya's research she had been confessed to by boys at least once or twice a month while in middle school. Hikaru and Kaoru both develop feelings for her before Tamaki is aware of his own. Kaoru steps aside to let his brother pursue those feelings only to have to comfort him later when Haruhi confesses that while she is flattered by it and does care about him she has feelings for Tamaki.
She confesses those feelings in the climax of the manga when Tamaki is finally able to see his mother again after not seeing her for a long time. She is so touched by his happiness that she feels that is the time to tell him. Afterwards, in a surprising turn she decides that confessing was just enough for her and that she would like him to continue to be able to be a Host and that this is what she needs – her friends. This in itself shows that while Haruhi is capable of feeling intense romantic feelings she knows that she can prioritize and put her friends first. Quite a fitting outlook for one who is as calm and collected as Haruhi.
» Appearance: Haruhi is introduced with a very boyish look: short messy hair, big glasses, and a baggy outfit. Haruhi has a slender build, causing her body to lack feminine features which is mentioned a few times throughout the series. She has brown hair which she cut shortly after a boy stuck gum in there a few days before school.
She sometimes has to wear a long wig that resembles how her hair used to be. Clients often comment on her big, shining eyes, saying they give her a more girlish look; the shining is actually caused by her contacts, which the Host Club gave her after realizing that she had some "potential". Throughout the course of the series, many people - girls and boys - grow a crush on her after seeing her charming smile. She most resembles her late mother. She has worn a dress at Ouran a few times, usually as a disguise. Haruhi is 155 cm tall (5'1). Due to being aged up in Amat she will resemble how she looks in the later Omake chapters that have been published after the conclusion of the series, long hair versus her usual short hair.
Her collar is a light blue satin strip of cloth with a bunny charm pinned to it. (Usa-chan!!)
» Suitability: Haruhi's dream is to become a great lawyer like her mother had been. Given her single minded and driven nature she would not be willing to lose memories of her parents, her friends, or central traits important to herself. She is a stubborn girl who overcomes any obstacles such as when Tamaki's grandmother attempts to disband the Host Club and keep him from seeing his mother. She would probably sternly lecture anyone who would want to avoid their collar and choose to die instead, much like she lectured both Tamaki's grandmother, his father, and Tamaki himself about how they should be more of a family and less strained not just for Tamaki's sake but because it is the right thing to do in her mind.

Video;
[Ahem. Haruhi turns the device on. She looks slightly different than her normal as her hair has grown long enough to reach just past her shoulders. She's still very confused by it and overlooks it for the moment. Her collar can be seen around her neck, like all other inhabitants of the island. She is in fresh clothing provided by the maids, a simple yellow dress and white sweater, feminine but not overly so.
She peers curiously at the device, still confused by it but able to figure out it's functions quick enough.]
Uhm, I'm not sure what's going on? I'm in a strange place without a clue as to where it is. I was told I could use this thing to contact people for information? Though the maid, or whomever she was wasn't very forthcoming herself..
I was with my friends and suddenly I was here, wherever here is. I'd really appreciate some answers if there are any? If not I could always leave this little room and explore myself?
[She mutters an after thought.]
I-if there's a loud obnoxious blond boy running around looking for me, I apologize for him. He's not that bad.
[She gives a slight bow of apology as she's currently sitting down.
Thinking out loud she looks off to the side, not really caring about the video all that much. She's comfortable with the use of the device thus far.]
Ah, but I hope Tamaki-sempai is okay at least... [Hrm... :|]
Anyway, some information would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
[She gives an honest smile, her natural ability to almost always remain calm and collected shining through, before disconnecting the feed.]

Haruhi was completely at ease, curled under the thick blankets that surrounded her. The sun was just peeking through the curtains of her windows. She was still in the recesses of her subconscious, though occasionally her breath would come out in light puffs of air. The dream surprised her. While she'd confessed to Tamaki-sempai she had never expected to have those sorts of dreams. Haruhi moans in her sleep, curling her legs up into her body.
The surprise of this turn in her dreams caused her to snap awake after several minutes of tossing and turning, though not erratically. Though her chocolate colored eyes were now open she still felt like she was asleep. Her limbs were heavy from the weight of the covers and her own body's relaxed state.
“Nn,” She shifted to her back, pressing a hand over her eyes. That was when she realized her hair was now touching just past her shoulders. She tugged at a lock to inspect it, confusion illustrating her features.
“What...?” Her hair had grown over night? How was this possible. She still felt the dredges of drowsiness tug at her and so her arm goes limp after this confirmation of her hair's length. She stares at the ceiling for several moments before realizing this is not her tiny apartment. The color and the furniture are all different and her brain is slowly processiong this information.
Alarmed, she sits up at once and looks around, eyes wide and alert at last.
“Dad...?” Where was she? Where was her father? Frantically she scrambles out of the soft warm bed, legs somewhat tangled in the sheets and heavy blanket. That's when she notices two things: 1) She isn't wearing clothing and 2) There is a stickiness between her legs that definitely wasn't there when she went to sleep.
“Huh?!” She tests the texture of this substance, curious and frightened by it at the same time. It was as if- no definitely not. Surely not. This whole thing was completely absurd and bizarre. First her hair is longer than it should be and now she's naked and smells of sweat and something else she can't name.
Haruhi takes a few deep breaths, calming herself. She's normally very calm and collected. This isn't good. She needs to stay calm and maybe find some clothes. Pushing her long hair back away from her neck where it is currently itching just at the back of it her hand brushes against a satiny texture. So, she's wearing no clothes but went to bed wearing a necklace? What? She gropes at it for a moment, tugging at it to find it does not yield. That's strange...
She looks around, taking in her surroundings now that she's becoming more aware by the second. The furniture was very high class, like she would see in one of the Host Club's events at school. Greek? Maybe? She's not sure just yet but as soon as she spots a floor length mirror she moves to it immediately and as quickly as her shaking legs will carry her.
She stares at her reflection, pinching a bit of flesh at her forearm and finding that this is not some weird dream. She's standing, very much in the nude, in a strange room with no idea how that satin necklace with it's bunny charm will come off or how she got long hair or how to find her way back home. She had so much school work to do and wanted to spend time with Kyouya-sempai and Tamaki – sempai, the twins, Hunny-sempai, and Mori-sempai! She didn't even know if she'd ever figure out where she was! Looking around she saw that her cellphone was not with her and someone haid laid out clothing for her. A simple pink dress with a short sleeved sweater to go over it as well as some modest undergarments.
She could hear Tamaki-sempai gushing in her head right now about what a “proud papa” he was. Ugh. No, Haruhi you need to focus don't let yourself get a headache. With a resigned sigh, she picks up the clothing, examining the dress's texture. It was soft much in the way some of the clothing the twins gave her to try was. It wasn't expensive looking either. It was simple and modest clothing.
“Well, this is just great. What do I do now?” She didn't expect anyone to come swooping in with answers but still wished she had them. She just dresses in silence before moving back to the mirror to examine the strange necklace and her hair again. Whoever had done this was a strange person indeed. She didn't even have to guess that this was her own hair. It felt like it. It definitely wasn't a wig, as much as she was hoping it was. Hair could be itchy some times!
"I wonder if sempai and the others know I'm gone yet...” Had she been out for days? Was there enough time for them to notice she was missing? She hoped her father would be okay. She planned to make a quick solution of this situation and return home to her family and friends soon enough.
Quietly, pulling some socks on and holding her shoes in her hands she moves towards the door, opening it to peek out.
“Hello?” She half expected Tamaki-sempai to pop out at her and tackle her in a hug, prayed for it even. Instead there was silence that was almost deafening when it greeted her.
